DRY SEASON

Dragonflies are a poignant symbol in our home town of Broome.
The monsoon is an exciting yet trying time. The humidity hangs in the air like a blanket and the storm clouds hang evocatively on the bruised horizon forever and forever until finally the rains come down and saturate and the winds come and dislodge. Amongst the shiny debris, clean and steaming and smelling of petrichor comes the dance of the dragonflies.
Dry season is nigh.

MOTHER’S TEARS

When Mother Earth weeps, the tracks of her tears of lava form blackened magma pipes as they fall in to the ocean and cool. She weeps for the destruction and the greed that is a catalyst for the abuse she suffers. She weeps for the pain her creatures endure. Most of all she weeps for the absence of the abundance of life that once was.

This piece celebrates their beauty and pays homage once again to the Mother who nurtures these stunning sopranos in her earth womb.
